38th Annual Convention of the Arizona Council of the Blind

I am writing to cordially invite you, your friends and anyone else interested in promoting the needs and concerns of blind and visually impaired people in and around Arizona to attend the 38th Annual Convention of the Arizona Council of the Blind.  The following link will take you to general information about our convention as well as links to register as either an attendee or exhibitor.

The theme for this year’s convention is “Building in Balance,” and the program we have planned reflects this simple notion—success comes through a life of balance.  In keeping with this theme, speakers will focus on living healthy, exercise and relaxation, library and radio resources, the arts, travel, access to technology and strategies for being an effective advocate for Arizona’s blind community.  We will also be featuring keynote addresses from Ms. Aerial Gilbert, a nationally renowned speaker who has an amazing story to tell about her own life’s journey, which includes the introduction of rowing as a competitive sport for the Paralympics) and Ms. Marlaina Lieberg, who is the Secretary of our parent organization, the American Council of the Blind.  Marlaina is an entertaining and dynamic speaker, and she will update us on goings on at the ACB as well as help us to get prepared to host the ACB’s 2010 Annual Membership Conference and Convention which will take place in Phoenix from July 9-17.

In addition to the informational programs and workshops described above, we will also be hosting an Exhibits Area where companies and organizations will feature the latest technologies, products and services which are specially adapted to meet the needs of blind and visually impaired people.  Finally, we will hold our annual Awards and Scholarships Luncheon as well as our annual Banquet.

For more information about the Convention, including links to additional details about the program and our on-line registration form, go to http://www.azcb.orgg.  You may also request an information packet by mail by calling us at (602) 273-1510.
