Vision Rehabilitation and Technology Exposition (VRATE)

Friday, December 2, 2011, 9 am - 4 pm

El Zarihah Shrine, 552 North 40th St, Phoenix

VRATE, the only exposition in the Southwest dedicated to presenting information related to vision loss, will be held in December, later in the year than usual. Attend presentations by experts in the field of vision rehabilitation, explore Assistive Technology with the potential to change your life, and talk with representatives of groups, organizations and agencies dedicated to supporting people who are visually impaired. Christmas Braille letters

Deadline December 20, 2011. Once again, Santa has enlisted the help of the elves at the NFB Jernigan Institute to get Braille letters out to hundreds of blind boys and girls this Christmas season. Between November 15 and December 20, parents can fill out a Santa Braille Letter request form online. The form can also be printed and faxed to (410) 685-2340.

 

Beginning December 1, the Braille letters from Santa will start going out to boys and girls around the country. The Braille letter will also be accompanied by a print copy (for mom and dad to read), and parents can choose the contracted or un-contracted form of Braille for the letter. Requests for letters must include the writer’s name, the child’s name, birthday, gender, mailing address, and a telephone number or e-mail address in case Santa’s helpers at the National Federation of the Blind have questions.

ACB 2012 Conference and Convention

Friday, July 6 - Saturday, July 14, 2012

Galt House Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky

The first tour will begin Friday July 6th, opening session will be Sunday evening July 8th and the final tours will conclude on Saturday July 14th. Rates for the hotel are $85.00 per night plus applicable taxes. Information regarding hotel reservations will be posted in the next few weeks.
